[SOLVED] "Operating System Not Found" or "Missing Operating System" error message while Starting Windows
Recently I got a error message "Operating System Not Found " while starting the windows. I was using the Windows 8 and this message appears in the black screen and was unable to open the Windows. And when I again restart my laptop the message appears everytime but sometimes the Windows will open. This made me to confused and tensed the actual problem that my laptop got.
I searched about the problem and its solution and also consulted friends too. I found that this sort of problem occurs in Windows 7, XP, Vista also and sometimes another "Missing Operating System" error message may also appear. I found that Operating System Not Found error message occurs mainly when the hard disk of the PC is damaged or the BIOS does not detect the hard disk. Moreover if the Windows Master Boot Record (MBR) is corrupted the error message occurs which is located in the hard disk.
To solve the problem you can just repair the Master Boot Record or testing your hard disk from the BIOS setting.
To repair the Master Boot Record boot the Windows 7 or 8 using the CD or USB and open the Recovery Console and run the command fixmbr. If you want to write new MBR you can press y and restart your PC.
The next process or step is to open the BIOS and check whether the BIOS recognizes the hard disk or not. Then save the setting changes made and restart the system and check whether the problem is solved.
But doing this process also if the Operating System Not Found error message is still not gone than Contact the hardware Manufacture or the place ou have brought the System.
This problem is occured in hp, Acer, Sony, Dell, Asus and others also. I have my Dell Inspiron 14R 4110 and found the hard disk problem and returned to the manufacturer. I have seen this problem in Sony Vaio, HP DV4 , HP DV6, and other laptops and Desktops.
Hope this Helps
